Jaclyn Hill X Morphe Palette

Capture

Happy New Year! I can not believe it is 2018 already, I swear it was just 2008 yesterday..

Today I am going to be reviewing the famous Jaclyn Hill X Morphe Palette. You do not understand how excited I am to type that! I have been waiting for this palette since it was first announced. It was very hard to get a hold of as it kept selling out every time I tried to buy it BUT I finally got it for Christmas. All I can say about this palette is  tá sé go hálainn.

Price : €45 ( Beauty Bay – Currently Out of Stock )

Description:

This was a product manufactured by Morphe but designed and created in collaboration with YouTube Star Jaclyn Hill, who had 100% creative freedom. It took them 2 full years to create the perfect palette. This is not your ordinary eyeshadow palette, it never would be because of Jaclyn duh!. It has a total of 35 eyeshadows that were each created to be highly pigmented, to have the most amazing colour pay off, blend-ability and longevity.  These 35 shadows consist of Mattes, foils, shimmers, satins and glitters.

♥ PACKAGING ♥

jaclyn-hill-x-morphe-palette-02.jpg

The Palette is inside a unit carton that has a message on the back from Jaclyn briefly discussing that this palette is her dream come true and what to expect from it. You open the carton and your palette is safely wrapped up in bubble wrap.

When you open the palette there is a message ” This Palette is dedicated to all my loving subscribers. “

It is made out of cardboard not the usual hard plastic of your normal Morphe Palettes. I wish the part where she wrote the message was just a tad bit more fancier. Some people wanted a mirror but who really uses the mirrors on their eyeshadow palettes??

There should be a piece of card with all the names of the shadows on it which I did not receive unfortunately but I have read online that many others did not receive it either. Overall I think it is  simple packaging of matte white and metallic silver, could have been better but then again Morphe is an affordable brand, if the packaging was greater quality you would be paying a great price for it.

♥ EYESHADOWS ♥

Morphe-x-Jaclyn-Hill-Eyeshadow-Palette-eye-shadow-shades-swatches-review-swatch-pics-photos.jpg

I personally think it is the only palette you ever need it your life. It has neutral tones for every day looks, your transition colours, it has the out there colours for your creative days and then dark colours for night-time. The colour selection is phenomenal.

There is very minimal amount of fall out with these products, not much kickback depending on certain brushes but definitely the best product out there for fallout and kickback.  They are SUPER pigmented, a small amount goes along way! I like to use my finger when applying the shimmers/foils/glitters. It is the most blend-able creamy eyeshadows I have hands down ever used, they are just a dream to work with.

I truly believe she made the perfect palette, you will have it forever because of the 1″ pan. I haven’t touched another palette since I got it, everything I need is right there.

My go to look using this palette are:

Upper Crease: Silk Creme

Middle Crease: MFEO

Lower Crease: Pooter

Outer V: Mocha & Chip

Centre of Lid: Obsessed

♥ Price ♥

Amount €45 + Shipping

I think that is a very reasonable price for an eyeshadow palette with 35 colours. It is €20 more than the original Morphe Palettes but you have to think about it for a second and realize that they aren’t all mattes or mattes and shimmers, there are 5 types of eyeshadow in there which is different ingredients and methods plus its Jaclyn F*****g Hill! It could be €100 and I would still pay it!

Capture

5/5 and I couldn’t give any lower, not in a life time. She is my idol and I have been following her for years so this is more than just an eyeshadow palette to me, it’s sentimental it is like I have a part of her with me and makes her more real. I cried when I got this palette and I wouldn’t touch it for so long because I didn’t want to ruin it, I am going to purchase another one soon just to have as a keep sake. GO BUY IT WHEN ITS BACK IN STOCK, SERIOUSLY DO IT!

My next blog will be about my new go to foundation!

Bye x

FIT Me! Maybelline Matte + Poreless

fit-me-matte-and-poreless-foundation-30ml-p17999-77734_zoom.jpg

Hello Everybody!

I had some money for once so I decided to buy a new foundation to try out. I purchased the FIT Me! Matte + Poreless for €11.99. I was looking for a foundation for oily skin types because I have been struggling with the oil on my nose, whenever I wear my Ps Pro Long Lasting Foundation it lasts ALL day on my skin except for my nose. I really put this foundation to the test by wearing it on a day trip where I knew I wouldn’t be able to powder my nose. I went to the Allianz Leauge Hurling Semi Final Wexford V Tipperary (we lost sadly), I would be out of the house 5 – 6 hours.

This foundation states that it mattifies and refines pores with blurring micro-powders for poreless looking skin. Matches your skin tone and texture. Has a natural seamless finish.

When I applied this foundation I just instantly fell in love. I have the shade 105 Natural Ivory, It has a yellow undertone which I should not have gotten but in the end it worked out well. It looked so natural, you could still see my freckles which I loved but it gave my skin a little boost. It made my skin look healthy and perfect, at the minute I have minimal texture so it just looked amazing. I honestly could not stop looking in the mirror at myself. I do have a dry forehead so I only put the smallest amount in that area as it is for normal to oily.

I applied the foundation at 1 pm and went off about my day. Never once did I feel the foundation on my skin, nor did I feel my nose getting oily. After about an hour of wearing any other foundation I can feel the oil, but not this time. I got home at 7 pm and my foundation on my nose had just started to get oily. I got 6 hours out of this foundation without having to top it up once, that is a major deal for me.

I am so impressed with this foundation, I would seriously recommend it!

I would rate this foundation:

Best Foundations in Ireland Under €15

Growing up I always used Loreal, Maybelline, Rimmel and other amazing affordable brands and it looks like everyone else in Ireland has too. Maybe after reading this blog you will see your favourite foundation or maybe a new one you would like to try.

1. Essence stay all day 16hr long-lasting make up. €4.79

essence

I have talked about this foundation before in my Benefit Hello Flawless Foundation V Essence Sat All Day 16hr long- lasting make-up Foundation Blog. I love this foundation and I am not surprised it’s on of the best sellers in Ireland. It lasts so long, sits so beautifully on the skin, It’s full coverage but doesn’t feel heavy on the skin. It’s the favourite among low-budget markets which is basically teenagers and students.

2. Catrice Even Skin Tone Beautifying Foundation €8.50

cat.PNG

I love Catrice because when I wanted make-up but didn’t have a crazy budget I knew Catrice would always be there for me. This foundation is full coverage pigmentation, irregularities and redness. This is more on the matt finish side so would be great for make-up users with oily to combination skin type.

3. Rimmel Lasting Finish 25hr Foundation €10.49

Rimmel.PNG

I like this foundation, I have used it for years if I’m on the market for a new foundation but don’t know what to buy I will 9 times out of 10 get this one. It says its full coverage but I don’t think so but it is buildable and with another layer you get that full coverage look without looking cakey.

4. Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid €11.99

ma.PNG

I have heard so many great things about this foundation, it is the best for variety of shades with the most out of any “drug store” foundations with a whopping 22 shades!! It’s an air whipped foundation , full coverage and pore minimizing formula. It’s Ideal for normal skin, Oil-free, fragrance-free, Dermatologist-tested, allergy-tested, non-comedogenic – won’t clog pores, safe for sensitive skin.

5. Bourjois Healthy Mix €12.99

bj.PNG

This foundation smells so good and fruity. It helps even out your complexion and brings a natural radiance to your skin. It’s a long-lasting foundation, lasts up to 16 hours. It has three fruits within the foundation that make it smell amazing and help you skin.

  • Apricot for radiance
  • Melon for hydration
  • Apple to protect your youth

6. L’Oreal True Match €14.99

true match.PNG

I tried this foundation for the first time in summer 2016. I was having a hard time finding a foundation that wouldn’t just sit on my skin, so a friend recommended this foundation, I got it and fell in love. It matched me perfectly but it would be hard not to find the right shade with 21 shades available. It’s medium coverage with the opportunity to build. It includes both yellow and pink toned foundations. It gives my skin such a nice natural glow.

Favourite Real Techniques Brushes

hello

Real Techniques are one of my favourite makeup brush brands, hands down. They are high quality and are affordable. Today I will talk you through my favourite ones 🙂 I will link all the brushes down below.

expert

award  This brush is an award-winning brush and Real Techniques number 1 seller. I can’t put into words how much I love this brush. It is a buffing brush that creates a airbrush look without an effort. You can use it for cream or liquid foundations, I personally use it for liquid foundations. This brush retails for €8.29 on the Real Techniques website.

expert-concealer-brush

bThis brush is the mini version of the expert face brush, it blends out concealer beautifully. I use this to blend out the contour shades, under my cheek bones and the perimeter of my face. Only use a little bit of product because this brush doesn’t soak up that much product. This brush retails for €6.75 on the Real Techniques website.

kabuki

kb.PNGThis is the first Real Techniques brush I ever purchased. I had just got into makeup and was watching Desi Perkins YouTube tutorials, she was using a foundation kabuki brush. Being the fan girl I am, I went on a search for a kabuki brush and saw this one.  This brush has been with me ever since, I have to bring it everywhere. You can retract it to fit the brush you need be it powder brush or contour brush. RT says you can use it for liquid and creams but I don’t think it looks nice with those, but when you use powder its beautiful. This brush retails for €9.21 on the real techniques website.

shading

sha This was the first proper eye shadow brush I ever bought. The bristles are tapered which makes blending a lot easier, an even distribution of colour and gives you that Instagram smokey eye effect. This brush retails for €5.53 on the Real Techniques website. It is currently sold out at the minute due to high demand.

png

kepghfd.PNGI love this sponge, it is so light and bouncy and makes applying foundation so easy. I love the flat edge, it helps applying the foundation fast as you can cover more base. I use the precision tip to blend out concealer and foundation in hard to reach areas. This sponge retails for €5.79 on the Real Techniques website.

Dealz Makeup – The Make Up Gallery Review

makeupgallery

I am obsessed with Dealz, literally obsessed. I love going in there and getting all my bodywashes, shampoos and sweeties there. I was walking around one day and spotted a Makeup stand, I was really excited to try a few things and see what they were like. As you all know I love finding really inexpensive makeup, so if this worked out I was on to a winner. The Dealz Make Up brand is called Make Up Gallery, it has a few hidden gems within its collection.

♥ FEELING BLUSH BLUSHER ♥

Blush.PNG

I am so in love with this blusher. We didn’t get off on the right foot, but now we are best friends. When I first swatched this blush, I thought it was really chalky, I didn’t think that it would blend well with the rest of my makeup. It is such a beautiful blush when on, it sits beautifully on the skin. I was kind of glad that it wasn’t very pigmented as I got to build the colour up, rather than go in heavy-handed and have to start all over again. The blusher I have is in the shade Soft Blush 1, I keep checking to see if the three other shades are there but they are always sold out. There isn’t a strong smell like some of the other products, it has a soft talc smell. Of course all of these products retail for €1.50.

♥ GOOD TO GLOW HIGHLIGHTING POWDER ♥

glow.PNG

After trying the blusher I had such high hopes for the highlighter. I wasn’t convinced when I purchased it but I said I would bring it home try it out and give it a fair trial. It looked way to dark, there wasn’t a sheen to it just some random buts if glitter. The highlighting powder I have is the shade Pearl Shimmer. I think it is way too dark to be called pearl. It looks way to dark for my skin and it’s didn’t give me that warm fuzzy feeling highlighters usual give you, all I got was a dark strip of powder on my cheek.

♥ SMOOTHLY DOES IT PRESSED POWDER ♥

powder

This powder creates a smooth finish, it only comes in four shades. It is a nice powder, really soft to the touch. It doesn’t do well for my oily T-Zone but it looks beautiful on the rest of my face. I usually leave this powder in my handbag and use it to touch up when I am out and about. I have been using this powder for about a year now and I think for the price you can’t go wrong. Since it is only €1.50 I like to have a few around in case I lose one. I have the Translucent shade which matches amazingly with my PS…Pro Longwear Foundation.

♥ POUT MATTERS MATT LIP COLOUR ♥

capture

I bought this product because I fell in love with the Latte shade. It wasn’t like anything else I had seen on the market in Wexford so I had to get it. The fun kind of stopped there though. There was a lack of pigmentation, it made my lips sting when I first put it on, I just wasn’t having a great time. With saying that the more I played around with it, the more I learned about it. It isn’t drying, makes you lips have the appearance of being matt when it is actually so mostuirising. The more I wore it the less it stung so I got to wear it a lot. I learned that if I put a layer of concealer on top of my lips before applying the product I get the colour pay off. Before you could see my natural lip colour through the lip colour. It is a very small bottle, I have only used it 4 or 5 times and it feels like the product is near the end of its days.

♥ CONCLUSION ♥

Overall, I am impressed with the quality of some of these products. They are definitely worth a try, just because some didn’t work for me that doesn’t mean they won’t work for you. My favourite products are the blusher and the pressed powder. I would definitely buy more of these products and keep trying the out and at only €1.50 my bank account won’t mind.

Catrice Cosmetics Liquid Camouflage High Coverage Concealer

The Catrice Liquid Camouflage High Coverage Concealer is my favourite concealer ever. I use it every time I do my makeup, I have repurchased it about six times now. I don’t think I will ever find a concealer better.

This Concealer:

  • Offers high coverage and is ultra-longlasting
  • Waterproof liquid texture
  • Optimal coverage and care

It covers dark circles, irregularities and redness effortlessly, it is very full coverage and pigmented but it is so light weight that you don’t feel like you are wearing concealer. I have a blueish tint under my eyes, you can see it when I just wear foundation. When I wear this concealer the blue is gone and so are my freckles. It is like they were never there. It is not tested on animals which is an amazing plus.

The only down side to this concealer is that there is only 3 shades, there are no shades for deeper skin tones:

  • light-natural-2                                     porcelain
 light-natural-3                                                            p-2

light-b

light-b-2

I love this concealer because it doesn’t crease and its very moisturizing on dry skin. Some days my under eye area gets dry and with other concealers it would cling to the dryness but not camouflage concealer. It blends out so easily and beautifully. I like to use my finger tips to blend out the concealer as I feel that it works best that way. I have read many times online that this concealer is a dupe for the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer, if you have tried both please let me know what you think.

One of the most appealing factor is that it only costs €3.95. It is available in many places in Wexford, the places I know are:

  • Penneys
  • Superdrug
  • Sam McCauleys (Main Street, Redmond Square and Clonard)

I would highly recommend this concealer, its my go to, my ride or die. I can not live without this concealer.

I would rate this product :

5-stars

Benefit Hello Flawless V Essence Stay All Day

15870838_10211499713158897_533556081_n

I am always on the market for a new foundation especially an affordable one. When I heard that the Essence Stay All Day is a dupe for the Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Brightening Makeup, I had to see for myself if its true. In this review I will be comparing all aspects of the makeup from the packaging right down to the ingredients.

♥ COVERAGE ♥

Benefit Hello Flawless –

This foundation is very light weight, it has a low to medium coverage. It is build-able so you can add more layers to get your desired coverage.

Essence Stay All Day –

This foundation is medium coverage, more than the Hello Flawless. You can also build this foundation to achieve a full coverage look.

♥ FINISH ♥

Benefit Hello Flawless –

I think this foundation has dewy finish especially on my skin. It sits so well on my skin, it does’t cake up or settle in my fine lines. It is long lasting.

Essence Stay All Day –

It has a semi – matte finish with a hint of dewiness after a couple of hours. I think this foundation feels the very same on my face as the Hello Flawless.  It is long lasting.

♥ INGREDIENTS ♥

Benefit Hello Flawless –

Octinoxate 5.49 %, Titanium Dioxide 2.37 %. Other Ingredients / Autres: Aqua (Water), Dimethicone, Glycerin, Phenyl Trimethicone, Isododecane, PEG9 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone, Butylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol Dicaprylate / Dicaprate, Pentylene Glycol, Maris Aqua (Sea Water), Phenoxyethanol, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan), Silica, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Stearic Acid, Sodium Myristoyl Glutamate, Alumina, Tocopheryl Acetate, Propylene Carbonate, Prolinamidoethyl Imidazole, Saccharomyces Lysate Extract, Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate, BHT. [+/ : CI 77002 (Aluminum Hydroxide), CI 77007 (Ultramarines), CI 77163 (Bismuth Oxychloride), CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499 (Iron Oxides), CI 77891 (Titanium Dixoide)].N° 06161/A.

Essence Stay All Day –

Aqua (Water), Cyclopentasiloxane, Butylene Glycol, Cyclohexasiloxane, Bis-peg/ppg-14/14 Dimethicone, Sodium Chloride, Boron Nitride, Silica, Mica, Caprylyl, Glycol, Triet-hexycaprylylsilane, Disteardimonium hectorite, Propylene Carbonate, Parfum (fragrance), Benzl salicylate, Linalool, Limone, Hydroxycitronelll, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Citro-Nellol, Coumarin, CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499 (Iron Oxides), CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide).

The ingredients are quite different but the foundations are very similar.

♥ PACKAGING ♥

The packaging for these foundations are so similar, there are only tiny differences. They are basically the same height, same weight. The only thing thats different is the pump. I prefer the pump on the hello flawless foundation.

Overall I am amazed that these two foundations ARE so similar. I do believe that the Essence foundations is a dupe. The only thing I can say I don’t like about the Essence foundation is that they only have 4 shades and none of them actually match my skin tone.

I think if you are looking for a foundation that will last all night but don’t want to spend €37 then you should get the Essence  Stay All Day because they are the same.

Mineral Magic JML – Review

mineral_magic_2pc_ps_1.jpg

I hope that all of you had an amazing Christmas surrounded by family like I had. For Christmas this year my brother was so thoughtful, he bought some affordable products for me to try and review for my blog. One of the products he got me was the Mineral Magic: Colour Correcting Skin Perfecting Mineral Make-Up powder and Brush set. Wow that was a mouth full.

This is a 3-1 product, it is a foundation and concealer with built in colour correctors. It states:

  • Micronised mineral powder
  • Full coverage with correctors and concealers
  • Matches your skin tone in moments
  • Fragrance free
  • Won’t get caught in wrinkles or creases

It only comes in two shades – Light/Medium and Dark. I have the Light/Medium. I want to put it out there that I haven’t tried this as a foundation yet, I am actually using it as a face powder to set my foundation. It is a very thin light product, I don’t feel like I have powder on my face, it doesn’t give that powdery effect that some face powders do. It really does give that full coverage look which I am always looking for, it doesn’t build up or look cakey. It hides any blemish I have, it makes me skin look flawless and airbrushed. I thought it looked a bit dark in the packaging but it matches my skin perfectly and gives me a radiant look.

mineral_magic_2pc_1.jpg

It has 4 mineral colour correctors within the powder, they are:

  • Pink – Brightens pale complexions
  • Mint – Dulls redness and conceals skin discoloration
  • Lavender – Camouflages yellow and pallid skin
  • Yellow – Coverage for your under and over eye areas

It retails for just €11.99, within the set you get:

  • Mineral Powder 0.35oz/10g e
  • Professional Stubby Brush

I absolutely love this powder as a face powder, I will try it just as foundation someday but for now I will continue using it as I am. It really sets the foundation in place and it literally doesn’t move until I take it off before bed. I think I will forever be using this powder.

I will rate it:

4-stars

It didn’t get a 5/5 as I still haven’t found a powder that stops the oil shining through on my nose.

If you know of any powders that are great for oily skin please comment down below. Please like, share and subscribe!

Don’t forget to enter my giveaway, the products are being revealed on my facebook page: The Caoimhe Guide tomorrow the 29th December and the Winner will be announced 31st of December.

I Tinted My Own Eyebrows???

Hi everybody, I wanted to do something different for my blog today, something that we can all do at home and save some time and money. It’s not going to look as good as what a professional would do it but hey whats in the back pocket  at this time of year is what counts. So if you want to know how I got on then just keep reading!

I was gifted the tint I have from my Aunt so I don’t know the price but found a similar one in Boots for €13.95 which I will link at the end of the blog. You may think that is expensive for an eyebrow tint, I can get a brow wax and a tint for that price. Over time you will save money and if you are going to an event or can’t fit a day in to get your brows done, this is a serious time saver!

I did my own eyebrows but me being me never took a before picture. So with the help of my favourite Auntie we can show you some results.

**disclaimer** I am not a trained beautician, the skills I have learned are from my aunt who was present.

                                             Before

15515890_10211325442562241_1313978453_o

STEP 1: You should do a 24 hour patch test on a part of skin before you tint your brows just to make sure you aren’t allergic to the tint, usually behind the ear.

STEP 2: As a rule of thumb, you should tint before you wax, pluck or thread your eyebrows. The reason for this is because if you tint after you wax, pluck or thread your brows there is a risk that the dye will get into your pores and may cause an infection.

STEP 3: Follow the instructions on the package to know how to mix the dye etc. Make sure you don’t mix a lot of dye because a little goes a long way.

STEP 4: If you are fair: Literally put the dye on one brow and wipe it off straight away. Its easier to build up the colour than to take colour away.

The darker your hair the longer you leave the dye on, you can leave it on as long as 4-5 minutes. Follow the natural outline of your eyebrows or over line if you would like to give a thick appearance. Be neat with the application as the tint can dye the skin.

STEP 5:  Gently remove the dye with a wet cotton pad and voila, perfect eyebrows! They say that the dye should last 4-6 weeks but usually lasts for 2 weeks.

                                                 After

15493920_10211325443522265_916796748_n-1

My beautiful auntie just wanted a soft natural dye, I made her eyebrows the tiniest bit thicker and filled in the gaps with dye. I also tinted her eyelashes for her! I was scared to do it on myself but it worked out great and I am so happy to do it again.

Once you learn how to do this, it’s the fastest and easiest thing to do! If you do decide to try this out I would love to see before and after pictures.
