This is part 4 of my healthy skin series, today is all about how to protect your skin from the sun. Protecting your skin is so very important, unprotected exposure to UV rays can cause skin damage, damage your eyes, immune system suppression, wrinkles and the dreaded skin cancer. You may be thinking “why is she talking about this now it’s still winter?” Well because there is still sun in winter (even though it doesn’t feel like it) winter sun can actually be more damaging because we don’t feel the heat so we don’t feel like there is danger. Your skin is the largest organ of your body, why shouldn’t we treat it with the same respect as you would treat your heart.
It’s not “Just Skin Cancer” when it’s the largest organ of your body.
1. Wear Sun Cream Even When it’s Cloudy
You don’t have to wear it if you are just going to be inside all day, this is when you are going to be outside exposing your skin. This is easier for woman than men, make up products such as foundation have SPF in them. So you are protecting your skin without even trying. Some day facial mositurizers have SPF in them, you can gain extra protection with using those products. It may seem like a big task but after a while it will become habit and your body will thank you for it.
2. Use Moisturizer that has SPF in it
This is my favourite thing to do as I tend to cover up my body most of the time because it’s Ireland it’s cold and rainy. My face is always exposed so instead of using sun cream I like to use my Simply Kind to Skin vital vitamin day cream it has SPF 15 in it. It protects my skin with little effort on my part.
3. Foundation with SPF
If I am not going to taking pictures with flash I like to use foundations that have SPF in them. My favourite one you all know is the PS…Pro Longwear Mineralized Foundation has SPF 15. Other foundations that have SPF are:
- Mac Studio Waterweight Foundatin SPF 30 €30
- Loreal True Match SPF 17 €10
- Revol Colour Stay SPF 15
Yes it’s that simple to protect your skin from sun damage, a bit of cream and you are on your way!
I hope my story and this blog influenced you in someway!
